The Geography |
The least populated area of Bali, this fertile stretch of land between the island's volcanic spine and the coastline is predominately agricultural. All roads - to the mountains or the ocean - feed off the main transport route to Java (via Gilimanuk). The ocean here is quite wild catering for surfing rather than swimming, whilst the undulating landscape sloping upwards to the mountains provides panoramas of spectacular rice terracing. |

There are so many interesting places to visit that it is impossible to include all of the main attractions in one tour or indeed in one day. Listed below are some of the most popular packages. A suggested time frame is included based on average traffic conditions. At any time, during the course of these tours, changes can be tailored to suit the client's personal requirements. Your Itinerary: |
A short early morning drive through the Seminyak district takes us to Tanah Lot (Pura Tanah Lot) one of Bali’s most picturesque sea temples. Normally frequented by tourists at sunset, our early morning visit allows peaceful contemplation of this significant Bali landmark. Continuing westward following the rugged Jembrana coastline we reach the popular surfing centre of Medewi. After refreshments, we visit the sea temple at Rambut Siwi (Pura Rambut Siwi) before heading northwards to the mountainous Manggissari village. This journey is a steep climb from the coastal plain and provides some fine views back towards the sea. We also drive through a giant acacia tree (Bunut Bolong) that forms a tunnel across the road. After lunch at Sanda, amidst the lush tropical rainforest, we descend through abundant coffee, cocoa and clove plantations that eventually give way to the picture postcard rice terraces around Tabanan before heading back to the tourist district. |
Your Itinerary: |
We drive directly to the Tabanan district to visit the huge state temple of the Mengwi Kingdom (Pura Taman Ayun). Our early morning visit allows peaceful contemplation of this 15th century Bali landmark. Our journey continues through Alas Kedaton where we get a close look at the resident monkeys, before stopping for a refreshment break at the village of Wanasari, home to one of the biggest butterfly parks (Taman Kupu Kupu) in southeast Asia. Continuing north-west we climb towards Bali's second largest volcano, 2276m high Mount Batukau. On its slopes, and surrounded by forest, lies one of Bali's most sacred temples (Pura Luhuh Batukau). Our onward travel takes us over some mountainous terrain and the route through Jatiluwih village offers spectacular views of rice terracing. This area is one of the islands most fertile, as rice cultivation gives way to fruit and vegetables when we approach the picturesque town of Bedugal. A spectacular vista of the surrounding lakes provides the backdrop for a leisurely lunch break. The afternoon begins with a visit to the picturesque lake temple (Pura Ulun Danu) and its adjoining botanical gardens. Time permitting; we take the opportunity to visit the local fruit and vegetable market at Candikuning before heading back to the tourist district. |
